Supermodel Inspired Holiday Look - Guest Post

Holiday season is almost here. It's the time of the year when we all want to look perfect and shine like a star regardless of whether we are attending a huge bash or a small gathering with our dearest.

That's why today I wanted to share with you a guest post written by Claire Hastings who tells us how we can create a supermodel holiday inspired look.  Over to Claire...

Celebrity style always enthuse us with its variety, edge and ability to go outside the lines. Whatever they wear, it always seems appropriate. From casual walks all the way to the most extravagant parties-they never fail to surprise us. There's no need to mention that holidays, which are now closer than you think, give us best chances to experiment with our clothes, hair and makeup. In other words, nobody can tell us not to dress like we're going on some red carpet event, when it's just a casual party. Here are some hacks on how to look like a true celebrity.

Dresses

Dresses are signature holiday garments. They give us class and make us feel like royalty. Here are some dresses you need to try out:

Deep cleavage

"Oh my Good, is that Jennifer Lopez? Oh, no it's you but wow that is a fabulous dress you have there." This is the type of compliment you will be getting when you take this bad girl out. Of course, for some it can seem like "too much skin" but come on, aren't you tired of always wearing same type of dresses? Besides, there is nothing wrong in being sexy sometimes, right? (wink)

Lace

Lace has been here for like, forever. The lace itself is first seen at the end of 15th century on pictures of Milanese Sforza family. Later, it developed through the 16th century, and it keeps enchanting us. Just remember the iconic Madonna's lace shirt she wore for Vogue photoshoot or Princess Diana's wedding dress she wore in 1985. When wearing lace, the most important rule is that less is always better. And, since it is not 15th century anymore, you don't even need a personal tailor, you can find perfect dresses online. Something as classy as lace dresses is meant to stay fashionable forever. Since it already draws attention to itself, there's no need to wear any other lace piece except your lace dress. Also, make sure you are always covered up. Just like it can look incredibly classy, it can also look very cheap and provocative if you are not covered up.

Hello sequins

These are my personal favourites, as a true sequin fan as I am. There are many variations but the most glamorous are definitely gold or silver sequin dresses (it depends which "colour" you like best). Combine your short sleeved or long sleeved sequin dress with single strap black heel sandals and a simple clutch that matches them. Also, since sequins, just like lace, draw all the attention to themselves, the key is to keep your hair and makeup as simple as possible.

Go edgy

Edge refers to many different styles. It basically means to wear something you usually wouldn't because you know, why not? Feel free to embrace leather by wearing  a leather jacket over your all-white combo (white cigarette trousers and a white shirt with a neat bun) or go full leather and put on a leather skirt with leather top, or simply put on a leather dress. Let's be clear now, don't wear those stripper-like dresses in which everyone can see your bottom, no. There are many classy designs right now because leather has really made a comeback this season.

Also you can opt for some formal playsuits (short or long, whatever you like) and wear them with some cool heels and blazer. Elegant plus simple equals fabulous.

Explore your artistic side with various makeup techniques

It is time to say goodbye to heavy makeup and dark colours because new makeup trends are finally here and they are fabulous.

Strobing

Don't worry. It's not some wild, new and hard technique. Strobing is just a fun new term for highlighting. It's time to say goodbye to the art called contouring and start embracing our "natural" glow with slightly more highlighter and almost no bronzer at all. Use highlighter ONLY on spots of your face that catch light because otherwise you can get that "sweaty" effect, and we don't want that. After powdering, put few layers of highlighter on your brow bone, the bridge of your nose, the highest part of your cheekbones and over the Cupid's bow and you are done. Ohm and don't forget to blush it as well.

Love your brows

Since "eyebrows on fleek" trend is over (thank God), now the celebrities are encouraging us to embrace our natural brows (just look at Cara Delvinge, Gigi Hadid or Kylie Jenner). If they have some "holes" in them, just fill them up with eyebrow pencil and that's it. Spice up your look with a light smoky eye technique and you are ready to own the party.

Don't forget your hair and skin care

You already know that, when the weather is cold, our skin and hair can suffer if we don't treat them properly. That is why it is important to always moisturise and tone your skin, avoid hot showers because that hot water can make your skin dryer than it already is (since it strips the natural elements from it). Oh, and I almost forgot about the SPF creams, always use sunscreen with at least SPF 30 when you are going outside. UV radiation is almost equal as one during summer months.

When it comes to hair, just avoid ponytails, always moisturise it with moisturising oils and be very careful with styling tools. Besides, it is now trendy to have that "bed hairstyle" anyways.

Holidays are times when we are allowed to go a little bit crazy and wear something we usually wouldn't, but also to combine that with comfort and style.
