Today My Daily Wear turned 2 years old. Wohoo! I can't believe that I've been blogging for the past 24 months. It's been an amazing experience and I honestly never dreamt of coming that far.
I would like to say HUGE THANKS to all of you for your support. Your positive comments and words of encouragement mean a lot to me.
I wanted to use my blog anniversary as an opportunity to share with you a few things that I've learnt throughout my journey. If you don't want to read my ramblings, feel free to scroll down to the end of the post where I'll announce details of my first ever giveaway :)
Blogging is not for faint hearted
I'm not going to lie...blogging is hard work. I spend so much time every day brainstorming blog ideas, taking photos, writing blog posts, scheduling social media content etc. I do it all while job hunting and running an online shop. Sometimes when my 'to-do' list is never ending I wish I was a robot.
Blogging industry requires a little bit of luck
There is a myth going around that bloggers earn a lot of money. In reality, success comes down to hard work and some luck. With so many great blogs out there, it's not always easy to get discovered by big brands no matter how passionate and hardworking you are.
It's easy to compare yourself
There are days when I look at other bloggers and wish I could be like them. Comparison is a thief of joy so I remind myself that I'm unique in my own way. I may not work with well-known brands and receive countless invitations to press days but I have a loyal base of readers for whom I'm grateful.Don't compromise your blog
I'm approached by brands who offer me products or money in exchange for a review or a wish list post. While I'm open to working with companies, I had to turn down some opportunities as I felt they would compromise my work. The products didn't fit my blog or companies demanded 'do follow' links which are against Google policy if they are paid for.
Don't get hung up on numbers
Like every blogger, I'm excited when someone follows my blog or leaves a comment. Although I celebrate every milestone, I try not to focus too much on a number of followers I have.
