Did you know that the word 'polka' derives from Polish for 'Polish woman'? I was born and bred in Poland so no wonder I'm a huge fan of the print ;)
I think it's safe to say that the trend for polka dots started booming in 1950s when huge stars of that time like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn started going crazy for the spots. Do you remember that famous photo of Marilyn in a lovely polka dot bikini? She certainly knew how to wear the print!
Unfortunately, I'm not brave enough to sport my dotted swimming costume on the blog. So instead I wanted to show you a polka dot dress I'm wearing today.
